Travelling to Merzouga from Canada
Travelling from Canada? Here are the essentials for your trip to Merzouga.
Flights from Canada
Royal Air Maroc flies nonstop to Casablanca from Montreal and Toronto, connecting to Marrakech or Fes. Air Transat has offered seasonal Montreal–Marrakech flights, and one-stop routes via Paris, Lisbon or London are easy. Plan on about 10–15 hours of travel from Eastern Canada, longer from the West.
Entry rules
No visa needed for stays of up to 90 days. A passport with 6 months’ validity is recommended.
Money
Prices in C$ are a guide; the 15% deposit is charged in euros by PayPal and the rest is paid in Merzouga. C$1 ≈ 6.9 MAD.
Seasons
March break, Canadian Thanksgiving in October and the winter-sun months of January to March are popular with Canadian guests.
Good to know
Morocco is 5–6 hours ahead of Toronto and Montreal, 8–9 hours ahead of Vancouver. Bring a plug adapter (Type C/E, 220V); check your devices are dual-voltage.
Getting the shot
Sunrise and sunset give the best light; keep your camera in a zip bag between shots to protect it from sand.
