The complete southern loop
This loop shows you the best of the south. Visit Aït Benhaddou and the Dades Valley, walk in the Todra Gorge, then spend two nights in our Erg Chebbi camp with a full day in Merzouga.
The return goes via Rissani, N’Kob and Zagora in the Draa Valley, before crossing the High Atlas back to Marrakech.

Driving times are approximate and include stops. The itinerary can be adapted to your wishes.
- Day 1Marrakech – Aït Benhaddou – Dades ValleyCross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, visit the UNESCO kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, continue via Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. Night in the Dades Valley.
- Day 2Dades – Todra Gorge – MerzougaWalk in the Todra Gorge, drive via Tinejdad and Erfoud, then ride a camel into Erg Chebbi at sunset. Night in our desert camp.
- Day 3Merzouga: nomads, Khamlia & the dunesSunrise, then a day exploring Erg Chebbi: nomad family, Gnawa music in Khamlia, fossils and an oasis. Second night in the camp.
- Day 4Merzouga – Rissani – N’Kob – ZagoraRissani market, N’Kob kasbahs and Zagora with its palm groves. Night in Zagora.
- Day 5Zagora – Ouarzazate – MarrakechThrough the Draa Valley and Ouarzazate, over the Tizi n’Tichka back to Marrakech.

Practical information
- Pick-up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech at around 7:30–8:00 am
- Expect 5–7 hours of driving on travel days, with regular stops
- Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals on request
- Bring warm layers – desert nights can be cold
