The experience
A rare, authentic encounter
Only a few families still live a nomadic life around Erg Chebbi, moving with their goats and camels in search of grazing. With your guide as translator, you are welcomed into their home – a traditional tent woven from goat and camel hair.
This is not a show. You take part in daily life: help bring the goats back in the evening, collect firewood, bake bread over the fire and drink tea while the family shares stories about life in the desert, the seasons and the changes they have seen.
The night is simple – mattresses and warm blankets in or next to the family tent – but the welcome is warm and unforgettable. Part of the price goes directly to your host family.
- Real family life, not a staged visit
- Your guide translates every conversation
- Respectful and low-impact
