Silence and space
Why hold a yoga retreat in the desert?
The Sahara gives a retreat something special: wide open space, soft sand, clean air and a stillness that makes it easy to turn inwards. Practising on a dune at sunrise, as the light creeps across Erg Chebbi, is something your students will treasure.
For groups from Australia the desert is usually the highlight of a longer retreat. Students typically fly via the Middle East or Europe, arrive in Marrakech or Fes and spend a day or two recovering from the long flight before heading over the Atlas with us. You lead the practice; we look after the camp, the food, the transport and the activities.
- Practice area in the camp, with mats on request
- Sessions on the dunes at sunrise and sunset
- Exclusive use of the camp for bigger groups (on request)
- Flexible meal times around your programme

For teachers
Hosting your own group
Send us your dates, the size of your group and your programme. We prepare a proposal with accommodation, meals, practice times and transport, and we can include the camp in a longer retreat that also visits Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains or Fes.
Groups can choose between standard tents with shared bathrooms, luxury tents with private bathrooms and deluxe tents with air-conditioning – or mix them to suit different budgets.
When to go
Best season for a desert retreat
The most comfortable months are October to April, with warm days and cool nights. March, April, October and November are ideal for long outdoor sessions. In winter the nights can be cold, so we provide extra blankets. From June to September we plan practice for early morning and evening only.
