Birthday Celebration in the Sahara

Turn a big birthday into a proper adventure: a sunset camel ride, cake on the dunes, Berber drums around the fire and a night under millions of stars – for couples, families and groups of friends from South Africa.

Celebrate differently

A birthday nobody will forget

A 21st, a 40th or a child’s first visit to the desert – a Sahara birthday is a story people tell again and again. We prepare the camp, the cake, the decoration and the music, and help you keep it a surprise if the birthday person must not know.

South Africans are used to a good braai under the stars – here it is tagine around the fire instead. Flights usually connect via a hub such as Dubai, Doha, Istanbul or a European city, and our team takes care of the evening. Small or big, quiet or lively, we organise it around you.

For every age

Birthday ideas for couples, families and friends

For couples we prepare a romantic evening with a private dinner and decorated tent. For families we plan easy activities such as a short camel ride, sandboarding and stargazing, and a cake that children will love. For groups of friends we add music, fire and adventure activities such as quad bikes and buggies.

Example evening

How a birthday night in the desert works

  • Late afternoon: arrival in Merzouga and camel ride into the dunes
  • Sunset: toast on a dune and group photos
  • Evening: dinner with a birthday cake and candles
  • Night: drums, songs and stargazing around the fire
  • Morning: sunrise and breakfast in the camp

Make it a weekend

Add a second day of adventure

Stay two nights and add a 4×4 day trip to the nomads, the Gnawa musicians of Khamlia and the seasonal desert lakes, or a morning of quad bikes on the big dunes. It turns the birthday into a real desert holiday.
