Wedding in the Sahara Desert
Say “I do” on a golden dune at sunset, half a world from home. We organise symbolic weddings, vow renewals and wedding parties in the Merzouga desert for Australian couples, with tents for your guests, music, dinner and a team that sorts out every detail.
- Ceremony on the dunes
- Tents for 2 to 60+ guests
- Berber music & dinner
- Planning in many languages
Weddings in the dunes
An unforgettable place to say yes
A Sahara wedding is simple and powerful all at once: the glow of sunset on the dunes, Berber drums, a long table under the stars and all your guests together in one camp. It is the kind of celebration your family and mates will be talking about for years.
Because the trip from Australia is a long one – usually via the Middle East or Europe – many Australian couples plan a small, intimate wedding or elopement and turn it into a longer adventure through Morocco. We organise symbolic ceremonies, vow renewals and full parties, and our Merzouga team looks after the ceremony spot, decorations, food, music, accommodation and transfers for every guest.
- Symbolic ceremony or vow renewal on a dune
- Exclusive use of the camp for larger groups (on request)
- Traditional Berber music, a big fire and dancing
- Accommodation in luxury, deluxe A/C or standard tents

Plan with us
How we plan a wedding in Merzouga
Every wedding is different, so we start with a simple conversation: your date, the number of guests, the style you like and your budget. We then send you a detailed proposal with accommodation, food, decoration and activities.
Closer to the date we confirm the final number of guests, the menu and the timing. On the day, our team is with you from the arrival of the first guests to the last song around the fire.
- 1. Send us your date, number of guests and ideas
- 2. Receive a tailor-made proposal and price
- 3. Confirm with a deposit
- 4. We organise transfers, tents, food, music and decoration
- 5. Enjoy your day – we take care of the rest
Legal information
Symbolic ceremony or legal marriage?
Most couples who marry in the desert hold a symbolic ceremony and complete the legal marriage at home before or after the trip. A legal marriage in Morocco involves official paperwork and rules that depend on your nationality and religion, so please check with your embassy.
A symbolic ceremony gives you complete freedom: you can write your own vows, choose a friend to lead the ceremony and mix traditions from both families.
For your guests
Make it a desert weekend
Give your guests more than one evening. Many couples plan two or three nights in Merzouga with a welcome dinner, the wedding day and a relaxed farewell breakfast. Between the celebrations your guests can try quad bikes, buggies, sandboarding or a 4×4 trip to the nomads and the desert lakes.
