Travelling to Merzouga from Europe

Travelling from Europe? Here are the essentials for your trip to Merzouga.

Flights from Europe

Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, Vueling, Wizz Air and Royal Air Maroc fly to Marrakech from most European cities. Fes has direct flights from France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, and Transavia flies Paris Orly to Errachidia, the closest airport to Merzouga. Flights take about 1–2 hours from Spain, 3 from France and Belgium, and 3.5–4 from Germany and the Netherlands.

Entry rules

EU citizens need no visa for stays of up to 90 days. Travel on a passport, not a national ID card, ideally with 6 months’ validity.

Money

Our prices are in euros, so there’s no exchange to worry about. The 15% deposit is charged by PayPal and the rest is paid in Merzouga. €1 ≈ 10.95 MAD.

Seasons

Easter, the May bridge holidays, the autumn break and Christmas are busy weeks. July and August are very hot in the desert.

Good to know

Morocco shares Central European time in winter and is one hour behind in summer. European two-pin plugs fit Moroccan sockets, so no adapter is needed.

Getting the shot

Sunrise and sunset give the best light; keep your camera in a zip bag to protect it from sand.
