The experience
Ocean waves and desert dunes
This week combines the two faces of Morocco. You start in Tamraght, a relaxed surf village just north of Agadir, where qualified instructors teach you from your very first wave – with theory, video feedback and two sessions a day at the beach that best suits the tide and swell.
Between sessions there is time for yoga, a swim in Paradise Valley and the colourful souk of Agadir. Then the adventure changes: we drive through the Anti-Atlas and the Draa Valley to Merzouga, ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset and spend the night in our desert camp with dinner, Berber music and a sky full of stars.
Everything is organised for you – accommodation, lessons, equipment and private transport – so you can simply enjoy the waves and the sand.

Adding desert activities to a trip from the US? Here’s what American visitors should know.
Getting here
Most American visitors combine activities with a night at camp. Fly nonstop to Casablanca from JFK, Dulles, Miami or LA with Royal Air Maroc, then connect to Marrakech or Fes.
US passports
No visa needed for stays of up to 90 days, and overstays are taken seriously. Your passport needs 6 months’ validity and a blank page for the entry stamp.
Prices and payment
Prices in $ are a guide; the 15% deposit is charged in euros by PayPal and the rest is paid in Merzouga. $1 ≈ 9.75 MAD.
Best time of day
Early morning and late afternoon. From May to September, avoid the midday heat.
What to bring
Sunglasses, a scarf or buff against the sand and closed shoes. Bring a plug adapter (Type C/E, 220V); most phone and laptop chargers are dual-voltage.
Sandboarding for beginners
If you surf or snowboard, you’ll pick it up fast. Beginners start on smaller dunes.
