A desert crossing, not a road trip
The road from Merzouga to Zagora goes far to the north. The desert tracks go straight through the Sahara – past dunes, oases and villages that have no tarmac at all. This private 2-day off-road trip is the adventurous way to travel between Morocco’s two great desert regions.
On day one you visit nomads around Merzouga and the seasonal lakes, then continue south-west to spend the night in Ouzina. On day two you drive from Ouzina to the village of Oubahlou, through Ramlia and Tafraout Sidi Ali, and finish in Zagora.
