Why spend your honeymoon in the Sahara?
Skip the usual beach resort. At our camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes there are no roads, no traffic and almost no light after dark – only sand, silence and stars. It’s the perfect place to slow down after the wedding and simply enjoy each other.
Getting here from the United States is easier than many couples think. There are nonstop flights from New York to Casablanca, and most other routes usually connect via Europe to Marrakech or Fes. We suggest a night or two in a riad to get over the jet lag; then our private driver takes you across the Atlas Mountains to Merzouga, where our family takes care of every detail: the transfer, a beautifully prepared tent, a private dinner and a few surprises along the way.

A day to remember
A typical honeymoon program
Most couples arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. After a mint tea in the village, you ride to the camp on camels as the sun goes down, or take a short 4×4 transfer if you prefer. Your decorated tent is ready when you arrive.
In the evening we serve a private candle-lit dinner – soup, salads, a slow-cooked tagine and fresh fruit – followed by Berber drums around the fire, or simply a quiet night under the stars if you prefer. In the morning, climb the dune behind the camp to watch the sunrise before breakfast.

Choose your comfort
Luxury tent or deluxe tent with air-conditioning?
Our luxury tents have a real double bed, quality linen and a private bathroom with hot shower and toilet. They are the most popular choice for honeymoon couples from October to May, when the desert nights are cool and the days are pleasant.
From June to September the days in Merzouga can be very hot. For these months we recommend our deluxe tents with air-conditioning, so you can rest in the afternoon and sleep comfortably. Ask us for availability and the current price when you send your dates.

Ideas for a longer honeymoon in Morocco
Many couples combine the desert with a few nights in Marrakech or Fes and a private drive through the Atlas Mountains, the Dades Gorges and the Todra Gorge. We can organize a private driver for the whole trip, so you travel at your own pace and stop wherever you like.

Plan on a full day of travel to Morocco – nonstop from New York to Casablanca, or usually via Europe from other cities – then a scenic drive of one or two days from Marrakech or Fes. Most couples allow at least 7 to 10 days for the whole trip.
