Silence and space
Why hold a yoga retreat in the desert?
The Sahara gives a retreat something special: open space, soft sand, clean air and a stillness that makes it easy to turn inward. Practising on a dune at sunrise, as the light spreads slowly over Erg Chebbi, is something your students will remember for a long time.
With South Africa only an hour or two ahead of Morocco, your group arrives without serious jet lag; flights usually connect via a hub such as Dubai, Doha, Istanbul or a European city. You lead the practice; we take care of the camp, food, transport and activities, so you can focus entirely on your students.
- Practice area in the camp, with mats on request
- Dune sessions at sunrise and at sunset
- Private use of the camp for larger groups (on request)
- Flexible meal times around your programme

For teachers
Hosting your own group
Send us your dates, the size of your group and your programme. We prepare a proposal with accommodation, meals, practice times and transport, and we can include the camp in a longer retreat that also visits Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains or Fes.
Groups can choose between standard tents with shared bathrooms, luxury tents with private bathrooms and deluxe tents with air-conditioning – or mix them to suit different budgets.
When to go
Best season for a desert retreat
The most comfortable months are October to April, with warm days and cool nights. March, April, October and November are ideal for long outdoor sessions. In winter the nights can be cold, so we provide extra blankets. From June to September we plan practice for early morning and evening only.
